The mission of EcoExplique is to facilitate the implementation of sustainable systems through environmental education.

The vision of EcoExplique is to be a global resource for environmental education services which facilitate the implementation of sustainable programs, policies, and initiatives through innovative means of explaining the complex environmental and economic systems in which we dwell.

Watershed & Stormwater Management Workshops
Watershed Awareness Teaches Economic Relationships© (W.A.T.E.R.) is a program developed to help professionals, communities, and municipalities better understand the relationships between our water resources and economic development. This program will help connect your industry’s goals to the watershed ecosystem services provided within your region.

Environmental Policy
Workshops and seminars are offered which help your community, business, or professional organization better understand and implement the environmental policies and regulations that relate to your industry.

Curriculum Development
Environmental education curriculum development services are offered for educational outreach programs within your organization. Curriculum development is aligned with federal, state, and local education standards. Workshops and seminars are offered which teach educators how to implement outreach programs that most efficiently and effectively reach the target audience.

French Translation & International Communication
These programs and initiatives are offered in French, as well as English. In addition, environmental science and education translation services are offered through EcoExplique.

Sarah has a Ph. D. in Environmental Dynamics from the University of Arkansas, a Master of Arts in French Literature and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska in French and Biology Secondary Education. She is a former award-winning science and French teacher.

Sarah is passionate about identifying and working through challenges at the interface of humans and the environment and has focused her life’s work on educating others about protecting natural resources. Her research focuses on public perceptions and willingness to pay for watershed ecosystem services. Sarah makes an effort to apply her research interests to real-world projects through such organizations as the Center for Math and Science Education, the Applied Sustainability Center and the Center for Agricultural and Rural Sustainability. Some projects included her contributions to the Keystone Field to Market Report for agricultural sustainability indices, as well as her work to amend local development codes to enable municipalities to incorporate Best Management Practices for stormwater.

Sarah is an active member of the community. She is a member of the National Staff Development Council, the National Science Teachers Association and the National Environmental Education Foundation. She is a former Neighborhood Representative and Chair for the Council of Neighborhoods, has been a member of the Education Committee for the Illinois River Watershed Partnership and was chosen 2007 Ozark Headwaters Group (Sierra Club) Activist of the Year. Most recently, she is the Position 2, Ward 4 Council Member on the Fayetteville City Council.
